Using a telescoping peg section, the stand adds the maximum amount of stability depending on whether a flute or clarinet rests on the stand. By increasing the height of the peg it is at an optimal position for resting a flute. Just the opposite is true for the position of the telescoping arm for the clarinet. A lower position provides the most stability. For compact storage, the peg comes off and legs fold in.
